FRENAME.V2 V01 RP AUTOMATION INC 11JAN89

DESCRIPTION

The programs in this file allow a file on the floppy diskette to

be RENAME'd to a different name. This feature was installed in

later versions of VAL-II software, but is absent in the earlier

versions.

PREPARATION

Load the FRENAME.V2 file in from the floppy diskette.

PROGRAM EXECUTION

When the correct diskette is in the floppy disk drive, execute

the program FRENAME. A prompt will then appear on the CRT screen

asking for the old filename. After this filename is entered, a

second prompt will be displayed which asks for the new filename.

After this filename is entered, the program tries to perform the

RENAME'ing operation.

MESSAGES

*** Floppy error nn ***

If a floppy error occurs during this operation, then this error

message will be displayed on the screen. The codes for 'nn' are

shown below.

2 = File already exists (creating new file with same name)

3 = File does not exist (opening file for reading)

4 = Communications error between VAL & floppy

5 = Disk full (writing to disk)

6 = Communications error between VAL & floppy

7 = Communications error between VAL & floppy

10 = Communications error between VAL & floppy

11 = Communications error between VAL & floppy

12 = Floppy not ready

13 = Floppy read error (diskette may be bad)

14 = Communications error between VAL & floppy
